Trong kỷ nguyên Premiership, Aston Villa là đội giành nhiều chiến thắng nhất (16 trận) và cũng ghi được nhiều bàn thắng nhất (58) vào lưới Everton.

HLV Martin O’Neill tuyên bố, trận tiếp Everton trên sân nhà vòng 32 là trận đấu mà Aston Villa buộc phải thắng. Nhưng trong hoàn cảnh hiện tại, đến chiến thắng chính bản thân mình, The Villans còn không làm nổi, huống hồ đòi vượt qua Everton đang có phong độ cao.

Aston Villa sẽ rất quyết tâm, nhưng không dễ vượt qua được Everton!

Trận tiếp Everton, chỉ mình Carew bên phía Aston Villa là hoàn toàn khỏe mạnh. Heskey thì đã nghỉ vài trận gần đây do chấn thương. Agbonlahor dính cúm sau một buổi tập. Nhưng có điều, vết thương lưng mới lành khiến Carew không còn được sung mãn như trước. Dù vẫn được O’Neill tin tưởng, nhưng ai cũng hiểu niềm tin đặt vào Carew là một sự bất đắc dĩ. Lúc này, bài toán ghi bàn đang rất nan giải với The Villans.

Mùa này, Aston Villa đã gặp Everton 2 lần. Trận Premiership lượt đi, khi trong giai đoạn thăng hoa, The Villans đã vượt qua The Toffees 3-2 ngay tại Goodison Park.
