Không cần ghi bàn, cũng chẳng cần kiến tạo nhưng dường như Michael Carrick mới chính là nhân tố giữ vai trò quan trọng nhất ở hàng tiền vệ M.U.

Đã 4 trận gần đây nhất, HLV Louis van Gaal đều để “lão tướng” người Anh đá chính ở trung tâm hàng tiền vệ M.U, trong vai trò của một “mỏ neo” đích thực quán xuyến nhiệm vụ điều tiết, tổ chức lối chơi cho toàn đội. Kết quả, đội bóng thành Manchester thi đấu vô cùng khởi sắc và lần lượt đánh bại cả Tottenham, Liverpool, Aston Villa lẫn Man City, qua đó duy trì mạch thắng ấn tượng đồng thời vươn lên xếp thứ ba trên bảng xếp hạng Premier League. Trên thực tế, trong giai đoạn lượt đi mùa giải năm nay, Daley Blind mới là cái tên được HLV Van Gaal tin dùng thường xuyên ở vị trí tiền vệ phòng ngự.

Thế nhưng, không khó để nhận ra rằng, phong cách chơi chậm rãi và tỏ ra hơi thiếu đột biến trong những đường chuyền cuối cùng của cầu thủ người Hà Lan đã phần nào khiến cho tuyến giữa M.U trở nên bị động hơn bao giờ hết. Đây cũng chính là nguyên nhân giải thích vì sao Quỷ đỏ mặc dù kiểm soát bóng tốt nhưng lại không thực sự sắc bén trong các tình huống tổ chức tấn công bên phần sân đối phương. Đơn giản, vì Blind chuyền ngang và chuyền ngược về sân nhà rất nhiều.

Xét trong một nền bóng đá thiên nhiều về tốc độ và thể lực như Premier League, đương nhiên yếu tố trực diện cũng là hết sức quan trọng đối với lối chơi của bất kỳ đội bóng nào. Trước tình cảnh M.U liên tục cầm bóng một cách “vô hại” và luẩn quẩn, HLV Van Gaal đã buộc phải đi đến quyết định thực hiện giải pháp đưa Carrick trở về vị trí “mỏ neo” sở trường, qua đó giúp cho đội bóng chủ sân Old Trafford xây dựng một hệ thống luân chuyển bóng nhanh gọn, cơ động và bớt rườm rà hơn. Dễ dàng nhận thấy rằng, so với Blind, ngôi sao người Anh là mẫu tiền vệ có lối đá đơn giản hơn hẳn, thường xuyên biết cách hạn chế tối đa những tình huống xử lý nguy hiểm trước khi tung ra các đường chuyền dài vượt tuyến cho đồng đội ở phía trên.

Thống kê cho thấy, Carrick chuyền về sân nhà ít hơn Blind (trung bình chỉ 16,39 lần chuyền về so với 20,6 lần của Blind). Ngoài ra, độ dài trong mỗi đường chuyền của “lão tướng” 33 tuổi cũng cao hơn hẳn ngôi sao người Hà Lan (khoảng 20 mét so với 18,45 mét của Blind), đồng nghĩa rằng số 16 bên phía M.U là mẫu tiền vệ thích tung ra những pha bóng vượt tuyến, một yếu tố được xem là phù hợp hơn trong môi trường bóng đá Anh với những nét đặc trưng cơ bản là bóng dài, tốc độ, sức mạnh và thể lực. Xét trên khía cạnh phòng ngự, Carrick cũng tỏ ra có phần “cứng cáp” hơn cựu cầu thủ Ajax Amsterdam cả về tỷ lệ thắng không chiến (56,52% so với 49,18%) lẫn tỷ lệ đi bóng qua người thành công (66,67% và 53,85%). Như vậy, đánh giá ở một phương diện nào đó, tiền vệ người Anh không chỉ đem đến sự trực diện cần thiết cho hàng tiền vệ M.U mà còn là mẫu cầu thủ thi đấu tương đối an toàn, chắc chắn.

Trong trận derby thành Manchester vừa diễn ra cách đây gần một tuần, Carrick chính là cầu thủ chuyền bóng nhiều nhất bên phía Quỷ đỏ (62 đường chuyền), với tỷ lệ chính xác lên đến gần 92% (cao nhất đội). Nhìn vào bản đồ phía dưới, có thể nhận thấy rằng đa số những đường chuyền của ngôi sao 33 tuổi đều rơi vào cự ly trung bình hoặc dài, đồng thời hướng nhiều ra hai biên và phía trên. Theo thống kê, tỷ lệ chuyền bóng bổng thành công của Carrick ở trận này là 75%, với 6/8 đường chuyền vượt tuyến chuẩn xác. Vô hình chung, điều này cũng chính là nguyên nhân quan trọng mang đến sự cơ động và tốc độ cần thiết cho những đợt lên bóng bên phía M.U. Thay vì việc luân chuyển bóng tương đối rườm rà, Quỷ đỏ đã triển khai tấn công một cách nhanh gọn đồng thời tận dụng tối đa khả năng không chiến hiệu quả đến từ Marouane Fellaini.

Nhìn chung, trước thềm cuộc đại chiến giữa Chelsea vs M.U cuối tuần này, cái tên Carrick chắc chắn sẽ là một trong những nhân tố mà HLV Mourinho cần phải để tâm nhiều nhất. Dù không mạnh mẽ bằng Matic, cũng không sở hữu những pha chọc khe sắc bén theo kiểu Fabregas nhưng cách thức tiền vệ người Anh điều tiết nhịp độ trận đấu cho Quỷ đỏ lại cơ bản hơn rất nhiều, giống như một “deep-lying playmaker” (tiền vệ tổ chức lùi sâu) thực thụ, thứ đặc sản hiếm hoi còn xót lại của nền bóng đá xứ sở sương mù. Bản thân Van Gaal, đương nhiên cũng hoàn toàn hiểu rõ điều này. Và chắc chắn, vị chiến lược gia người Hà Lan sẽ tiếp tục phải trông chờ rất nhiều từ “chiếc chìa khóa” thầm lặng mang tên Carrick.
