Xu thế mới tại Premier League: Ba trung vệ, tại sao không?

Tưởng như đã lỗi thời, nhưng sơ đồ 3 trung vệ bỗng nhiên hồi sinh trong giai đoạn gần đây ở Premier League, thể hiện qua Sunderland của Steve Bruce và đặc biệt là Liverpool của Kenny Dalglish.

Lý do chính khiến đội hình 3 hậu vệ trở nên lỗi thời là do nó được sử dụng chủ yếu để chống lại các hệ thống 2 tiền đạo. Hai trung vệ sẽ kèm người, còn một người đá quét. Khi phải đối phó với các đội hình chỉ một tiền đạo, vốn đang là mốt thời thượng trong bóng đá hiện đại với các biến thể 4-3-3 hoặc 4-2-3-1, ba trung vệ là thừa, trong khi hai cánh lại quá trống trải và phải chịu sức ép rất lớn trước các cầu thủ đá treo cánh đầy tốc độ của đối phương.

Thông thường, ngày nay mục tiêu của đội bóng sử dụng 3 trung vệ thường là tử thủ vì một trận hòa không bàn thắng hơn là tìm kiếm 3 điểm. Đó là cách mà Estudiantes đã đối phó với Velez Sarsfield hồi tháng 10/2010 khi họ có được trận hòa cần thiết để giữ vững ngôi đầu ở giải VĐQG. Uruguay cũng đã chơi gần như thế trước Pháp, hay Algeria khi họ thủ hòa thành công với Anh, hay ít thành công hơn một chút, CHDCND Triều Tiên gặp Brazil, đều ở vòng bảng World Cup vừa rồi.

Liverpool đã vượt qua Chelsea nhờ đấu pháp 3 trung vệ

Thận trọng nhưng không tiêu cực

Quả thật, Liverpool đã khởi đầu trận đấu với Chelsea khá thận trọng, nhưng chắc chắn họ không đá tiêu cực như Algeria hay Triều Tiên. Hệ thống của Dalglish không khác biệt nhiều so với đội hình 3-5-2 truyền thống hồi những năm 1990: để đối phó với 4-4-2. Tối Chủ nhật, Chelsea đã, giống trận gặp Sunderland thứ Ba tuần trước, ra sân với cặp tiền đạo Fernando Torres-Didier Drogba và Nicolas Anelka chơi cao nhất trong hàng tiền vệ hình thoi.

Cầu thủ người Pháp hoàn toàn bị khống chế bởi một Lucas Leiva chơi xuất sắc trong khi bộ ba Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel và Daniel Agger đã hóa giải khá dễ dàng Drogba và Torres phía trên. Thống kê cho thấy tiền đạo người TBN thực ra chỉ chạm bóng có 29 lần trong suốt 66 phút anh có mặt trên sân.

Như nhiều cuộc đấu chiến thuật khác, chiến thắng thực sự của Liverpool là ở khu vực giữa sân. Trước Stoke, Dalglish sử dụng đội hình 3-4-2-1 với một hình vuông ở giữa sân, hai người đá phòng ngự và hai tấn công. Trước Chelsea, ông chuyển sơ đồ thành hình thoi để khống chế tốt hơn kế hoạch triển khai lực lượng của Carlo Ancelotti. Một đối một, Lucas kèm Anelka, Gerrard đối phó với Lampard, Maxi giải quyết Essien và Meireles đọ sức cùng Mikel. Chỉ duy nhất Maxi là không giành được thắng lợi hoàn toàn trong những cuộc đấu tay đôi đó.

Chống sơ đồ hình thoi

Một vấn đề khác, Chelsea gặp khó khi hàng tiền vệ hình thoi của họ phải đối phó với hai cầu thủ chạy cánh của Liverpool. Một điểm yếu chết người của hệ thống hình thoi là nó thiếu hỏa lực ở hai cánh. Các hậu vệ cánh sẽ phải dâng cao và nếu họ không thể, tất cả sẽ phải phụ thuộc vào người đá ở đỉnh hình thoi, giống như tất cả nước phải chảy về đáy chiếc phễu. Thế nhưng, Lucas đã làm quá tốt khi bắt chết Anelka và siết luôn đáy phễu lại, khiến Drogba và Torres không thể có cơ hội dứt điểm.

Thật ra thì cả Jose Bosingwa và Ashley Cole đều là những hậu vệ cánh lý tưởng cho vai trò tấn công, nhưng hôm Chủ nhật họ đã không thể làm điều đó. Thay vì phải đối phó với một hậu vệ cánh thông thường, họ gặp Martin Kelly và Glen Johnson ngay giữa khu cấm địa và vùng giữa sân, khiến cả Cole lẫn Bosingwa vừa gặp khó khăn trong tấn công, vừa không dám lơ là phòng ngự.

Như vậy, hệ thống hàng tiền vệ hình thoi thật ra chỉ phát huy tác dụng khi một đội bóng có khuynh hướng phòng ngự hoặc chơi ở một giải đấu mà có quá nhiều đội cũng sử dụng một hình thoi ở giữa sân, dẫn đến sự khác biệt do các cầu thủ đá cánh mang lại là không quá lớn. Không phải ngẫu nhiên mà Serie A, nơi Ancelotti xuất thân, đội hình 4-3-1-2, một biến thể của hệ thống hình thoi, đang chiếm ưu thế trong mùa giải này. AC Milan, đội đầu bảng, đang chơi với đội hình đó. Nhưng cũng thật lý thú nêu biết rằng 3 thất bại của đội bóng áo sọc đỏ đen mùa này là trước Cesena, Juventus và Roma, những đội đá cánh rất tốt.

Sẽ rất ngạc nhiên nếu như Liverpool lại sử dụng đội hình đó khi gặp Wigan, hay Sunderland trước Tottenham, cuối tuần này. Tuy nhiên, riêng trường hợp đội bóng áo đỏ, với các cầu thủ chạy cánh quá yếu và nhiều trung vệ giỏi, giải pháp 3 hậu vệ có thể sẽ còn được Dalglish sử dụng nhiều nữa trong tương lai.

Vòng đấu đầy hoài niệm
 

Tuần lễ vừa qua là một vòng đấu đầy hoài niệm của Premier League, khi bảng tỉ số giống như ở thập niên 1950, còn các sơ đồ chiến thuật thì giống hồi 1990. Hệ thống 3 hậu vệ đã trở nên lỗi thời trong thập kỷ vừa qua bỗng nhiên tỏ ra cực kỳ hiệu quả dưới tay Dalglish và Bruce. Liverpool đã đá với đội hình này trong trận gặp Stoke thứ Tư tuần trước. Sunderland cũng sử dụng sơ đồ tương tự ở trận gặp Stoke hôm thứ Bảy. Rồi Liverpool lại dùng nó để đánh bại Chelsea một ngày sau đó. Trận đấu ở Stamford Bridge có lẽ là thành công lớn nhất của hệ thống 3 cầu thủ phòng ngự, dù phải nói rằng Chelsea chơi khá tệ.
 

Tăng khả năng phòng thủ khu vực

Để bắt chết những tiền đạo cao to như Carew, Liverpool đã tăng cường một trung vệ ở hàng thủ Không phải tình cờ mà Liverpool và Sunderland quyết định tăng cường thêm một trung vệ khi gặp Stoke. Có vẻ như cả Dalglish lẫn Bruce đều cho rằng hàng thủ của họ cần thêm thể lực và chiều cao để đối phó với tiền đạo trung tâm chuyên chơi đầu John Carew. Trong trường hợp Liverpool, Agger được thêm vào, còn với Sunderland là John Mensah. Việc có thêm một trung vệ tỏ ra rất có ích cho đội chủ sân Anfield. Trước hết, nó giúp Dalglish sửa chữa điểm yếu cố hữu về khả năng phòng ngự khu vực đã kéo dài suốt từ thời Rafael Benitez sang tận Roy Hodgson. Thứ hai, Liverpool có thêm một cầu thủ tranh cướp bóng, giữ bóng và kiến tạo ở khu vực giữa sân, khi Meireles được giải phóng phần nào khỏi nhiệm vụ phòng ngự.
