Khác với nhiều người, Roy Keane cho rằng trọng tài đã đúng khi phạt thẻ đỏ Nani.

Khi còn thi đấu, Roy Keane là một trong những cầu thủ chơi rắn nhất ở Premier League.

Chiếc thẻ đỏ mà trọng tài chính Cuneyt Cakir dành cho Nani ở phút 57 chắc chắn sẽ là chủ đề gây tranh cãi nhiều nhất sau trận đấu giữa Manchester United và Real Madrid. Nhiều người cho rằng ông vua sân cỏ người Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ đã quá nặng tay khi phạt thẻ đỏ với Nani trong tình huống phạm lỗi với Aberloa, gián tiếp làm thay đổi cục diện trận đấu. Tuy nhiên, cựu đội trưởng của MU, Roy Keane lại có ý kiến hoàn toàn trái ngược.

Phát biểu trên kênh ITV, anh nói: “Trọng tài đã quyết định đúng. Đó là một tình huống rất nguy hiểm và xứng đáng nhận thẻ đỏ. Hãy công bằng hơn với trọng tài, ông ấy mất vài phút suy nghĩ, nói chuyện với các trợ lý trước khi rút thẻ đỏ. Tôi không nghĩ đó là quyết định của ông Cakir mà đó là do sự gợi ý của trợ lý, trong khi chờ bác sỹ chăm sóc cho các cầu thủ. Cho dù mọi người có thất vọng thế nào đi nữa, tôi vẫn cho rằng đó là quyết định đúng.

Mỗi khi tôi bị đuổi khỏi sân khi còn thi đấu, tôi đều nghĩ rằng “Mình đã làm gì để trọng tài đuổi khỏi sân?”. Nếu câu trả lời là có, thì đó không còn là chuyện cá nhân nữa rồi. Mọi người đều rất thất vọng và MU đã có một chút không may và bị loại, nhưng đó là một pha bóng nguy hiểm của Nani, cho dù cậu ấy có cố ý hay không. Cũng không quan trọng là trọng tài có dũng cảm hay không, đó là một quyết định đúng. Đừng quên rằng Nani khi đó cũng ngã xuống rất nhanh, cậu ấy không phải là người dũng cảm”.

Được biết, trong sự nghiệp của mình Roy Keane đã phải nhận tới 7 thẻ đỏ và 69 thẻ vàng, chỉ tính riêng ở Premier League.
