Khoảng cách giữa hai gã khổng lồ của La Liga hiện đang là 16 điểm, và một trong những lý do đằng sau sự khác biệt là màn trình diễn của những "bộ não" của 2 đội; giữa Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets với Xabi Alonso, Khedira và Oezil.

Không ai nghĩ Real Madrid sẽ bị kình địch xứ Catalunya bỏ xa tới 16 điểm khi sau nửa đầu mùa giải. Một lý do có thể giải thích cho khoảng cách xa vời vợi như vậy là phong độ của những cầu thủ, những người đóng vai trò thường được gọi là "bộ não" của đội bóng, chịu trách nhiệm điều tiết lối chơi từ vị trí đặc quyền ở khu vực trung tâm.
