U23 Việt Nam vượt qua U23 Đài Loan (Trung Quốc) với tỷ số 1-0 ở trận đầu tiên của bảng I vòng loại U23 châu Á 2022. Văn Xuân ghi bàn duy nhất giúp U23 Việt Nam giành 3 điểm.

Trong hiệp 1, U23 Việt Nam tung ra đội hình gồm 5 tuyển thủ quốc gia là Văn Toản, Văn Xuân, Việt Anh, Thanh Bình và Hoàng Anh. Với chất lượng nhân sự tốt hơn, U23 Việt Nam dễ dàng làm chủ thế trận.

U23 Việt Nam tấn công nhiều ở cánh trái. Văn Xuân, người sắm vai hậu vệ trái trong trận đấu này, chơi rất ấn tượng. Anh dâng cao tấn công, phối hợp nhịp nhàng với các đồng đội và tạo ra 3 cơ hội dứt điểm. Văn Đạt có một cú đánh đầu chạm xà ngang sau đường tạt bóng của Văn Xuân.

Tuy nhiên, U23 Việt Nam chưa có những pha xử lý thanh thoát nhất. Những đường chuyền hoặc dứt điểm quyết định vẫn sai sót tương đối. Mặt sân xấu cũng ảnh hưởng đến việc này.

Dù kiểm soát bóng nhiều hơn, làm chủ được trận đấu, U23 Việt Nam vẫn chưa tạo được những cơ hội nguy hiểm. Khi đó, Văn Đạt và Xuân Quyết liên tục đảo vị trí cho nhau nhằm gây bất ngờ cho đối thủ. Văn Đạt chủ động lùi sâu để nhận bóng trong khi Xuân Quyết có những pha xâm nhập vùng cấm. Tuy nhiên, sự khác biệt vẫn chưa xuất hiện.

Trong những phút cuối hiệp 1, U23 Việt Nam có nhiều tình huống lỗi ở giữa sân. Điều này mở ra một số tình huống tấn công cho U23 Đài Loan. Tuy nhiên, đội bạn không tận dụng được. Ở mặt trận tấn công, U23 Việt Nam cũng chơi thiếu thanh thoát và gặp khó khăn khi đối thủ chủ động áp sát nhanh. Hiệp 1 kết thúc với tỷ số hòa 0-0.

Ngay đầu hiệp 2, HLV Park cho Việt Cường vào sân thay Xuân Quyết, đổi sơ đồ từ 3-5-2 sang 3-4-3. Tuy nhiên, phương án này chưa phát huy hiệu quả. Hơn 10 phút sau, ông tung Hai Long, Bảo Toàn vào sân thay Hữu Thắng và Xuân Tú.

U23 Việt Nam thực hiện nhiều tình huống chọc khe hơn, chủ yếu xuất phát bên cánh trái. Tuy nhiên, cảm giác bóng của các cầu thủ chưa tốt, dẫn đến sự thiếu chính xác. Sau 60 phút, U23 Việt Nam vẫn rất bế tắc trước trong thế trận phòng ngự thấp và chặt chẽ của U23 Đài Loan.

Sau những thay đổi nhân sự liên tiếp, thế trận tấn công của U23 Việt Nam khởi sắc hơn. Trong đó, Hai Long chơi nổi bật với những pha đập nhả với đồng đội hoặc đột phá cá nhân. Hai tiền đạo Văn Đạt, Bảo Toàn cũng lùi sâu để tạo ra sự kết nối. Dù vậy, U23 Việt Nam vẫn chưa ghi được bàn.

Mãi đến phút 82, U23 Việt Nam mới ghi bàn. Sau một loạt tình huống đập nhả ăn ý, Hai Long tỉa bóng sang cánh trái để Văn Xuân băng xuống dứt điểm. Hậu vệ của CLB Hà Nội thực hiện cú đặt lòng chính xác, mở tỷ số cho U23 Việt Nam. Đây cũng là bàn thắng duy nhất của trận đấu.

U23 Việt Nam giành trọn 3 điểm nhưng để lại nhiều nỗi lo. Các học trò của HLV Park chưa có cảm giác bóng tốt nhất và sẽ gặp nhiều khó khăn khi đối đầu với U23 Myanmar, đội bóng được đánh giá cao hơn U23 Đài Loan rất nhiều.
