Trọng tâm chuyển nhượng của Man City mùa hè này được dồn vào các vị trí thủ môn và hậu vệ hai cánh. Tuy nhiên, HLV Pep Guardiola cũng không nên bỏ qua khu vực trung tâm hàng thủ còn nhiều hạn chế.


Mùa giải 2016/17 chứng kiến Man City tay trắng trên mọi đấu trường, điều lần đầu tiên xảy ra trong sự nghiệp huấn luyện của Pep Guardiola. Không dễ để nhận ra hàng thủ là vấn đề nhức nhối nhất của họ trong suốt gần một năm qua và các vị trí thủ môn, hậu vệ hai cánh bị điểm mặt chỉ tên đầu tiên. Trong khung gỗ, Claudio Bravo nhận được sự tín nhiệm tuyệt đối của Guardiola bởi phong cách thi đấu trên lý thuyết là rất phù hợp với hệ thống chiến thuật mà ông áp dụng.

Để đón Bravo về Man City, Guardiola đã chấp nhận dứt tình với công thần suốt 10 năm qua của đội bóng là Joe Hart, người tới Torino dưới dạng cho mượn và nay vẫn chưa rõ tương lai. Nhưng đổi lại, ông đã nhận về những màn trình diễn nghèo nàn từ phía Bravo. Tuyển thủ Chile tỏ ra bị khớp trước môi trường giàu tốc độ, thể lực của bóng đá Anh và đặc biệt gặp rất nhiều khó khăn khi xử lý những tình huống tranh chấp trên không.

Hàng thủ là bài toán nan giải của HLV Guardiola

Trong khi đó, hai biên của Man City gồm toàn những lão tướng như Aleksandar Kolarov, Gael Clichy, Pablo Zabaleta hay Bacary Sagna và không thể đáp ứng yêu cầu hoạt động với cường độ cao của Guardiola. Việc chiến lược gia người Tây Ban Nha buộc lòng phải kéo Jesus Navas trái sở trường về chơi hậu vệ phải vào cuối mùa trước là minh chứng cho thấy ông thiếu lựa chọn đến thế nào. Do đó, việc bộ phận chuyển nhượng Man City không gia hạn hợp đồng với Clichy, Zabaleta, Sagna hè này bên cạnh lên kế hoạch chiêu mộ những Danny Rose, Benjamin Mendy (trái) và Kyle Walker, Dani Alves (phải) cũng không có gì ngạc nhiên.

Nhưng ngay cả khi đã có thủ môn đắt giá Ederson Moraes rồi những hậu vệ biên tài năng nói trên, không đồng nghĩa với hậu phương Man City đã thực sự vững chắc. Vẫn còn đó nỗi lo ở vị trí trung vệ, nơi họ có đủ số lượng nhưng lại thiếu chất lượng. Giả sử Vincent Kompany vẫn tiếp tục tái diễn tình trạng chấn thương liên miên như gần 2 năm qua, cả một phòng tuyến của The Citizens sẽ bị lung lay bởi ai cũng biết tầm ảnh hưởng cả về chuyên môn và tinh thần của anh lớn thế nào.

Các trung vệ của Man City hiện đều có vấn đề

Nhưng ngay cả khi Kompany “chân cứng đá mềm”, Guardiola cũng dứt khoát phải tìm sự thay thế trung vệ 31 tuổi về lâu dài. John Stones có tiềm năng song cần thêm thời gian để hoàn thiện. Nếu như dồn quá nhiều áp lực lên cầu thủ mới 23 tuổi này, chưa biết chừng anh sẽ lại mắc những sai lầm đáng tiếc giống như mùa giải trước. Hơn nữa, lúc này Guardiola cũng không có thêm những lựa chọn ưng ý.

Kolarov chỉ là giải pháp mang tính nhất thời cho vị trí trung vệ Man City còn Nicolas Otamendi ổn định nhưng lại không phải mẫu cầu thủ đủ sức giúp họ chinh phục các danh hiệu. Cầu thủ người Argentina không thể luân chuyển bóng ở tốc độ cao khiến cho những đợt lên bóng của đội chủ sân Etihad mất hẳn sự nhịp nhàng. Ở những trận đấu lớn, Otamendi cũng thường xuyên bị các mũi công có sức càn lướt của đối phương như Diego Costa (Chelsea), Sadio Mane (Liverpool) hay Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) vượt mặt một cách dễ dàng. Ở tuổi gần 30, Otamendi có lẽ cũng không có nhiều điều kiện thay đổi phong cách của mình.

Giải pháp trao cơ hội cho những cầu thủ trẻ cũng tồn tại nhiều rủi ro. Jason Denayer đã thất bại trong việc gây ấn tượng với Guardiola mùa hè năm ngoái và được cho mượn tới Sunderland, nơi anh cũng không để lại dấu ấn nào đặc biệt. Trung vệ Man City còn lại ở đội 1 là Tosin Adarabioyo mới 19 tuổi, chỉ có 4 lần ra sân (đều trong những trận không quan trọng) và dĩ nhiên là rất non nớt.

Thực tế Man City cũng có liên hệ với những Virgil van Dijk hay Leonardo Bonucci song đến nay vẫn chưa thể đạt được những tín hiệu tích cực. Cả hai đều là mẫu cầu thủ hội đủ những tố chất mà Guardiola cần để xây dựng một bộ máy hoàn chỉnh kể cả cái uy của một người lãnh đạo. Tuy nhiên, ngoài việc mức giá chuyển nhượng của họ quá cao, phía những CLB chủ quản như Southampton hay Juventus cũng đều không muốn nhả người.

Bonucci và Van Dijk là những nhân tố hữu ích với Man City

Nhìn vào thị trường chuyển nhượng, cũng thật khó để tìm ra một nhân tố vừa có đẳng cấp vừa phù hợp của triết lý của Guardiola. Nhưng khó không đồng nghĩa với việc người được mệnh danh là “thiên tài chiến thuật” và Man City chấp nhận bó tay. Quá khứ chứng minh những đội bóng đoạt danh hiệu lớn trên thế giới hay Premier League đều phải sở hữu cho mình một cặp trung vệ vững chắc và ổn định xuyên suốt giải đấu.

Trong các chức vô địch Premier League năm 2012 và 2014, Man City đều có Kompany ở đỉnh cao phong độ kết hợp ăn ý cùng những Joleon Lescott và Martin Demichelis. Tìm ra giải pháp ở trung tâm hàng thủ sẽ là một trong những công việc quan trọng nhất của HLV Guardiola trước thềm mùa giải mới 2017/18.
