Thua sốc "hiện tượng" Sheffield, Chelsea chênh vênh trong Top 4

Vẫn biết Sheffield không phải là đối thủ dễ chơi sau những gì thể hiện từ đầu mùa bất chấp tham dự Premier League 2019/20 dưới tư cách tân binh song rõ ràng, chẳng mấy ai dám nghĩ rằng thầy trò Frank Lampard lại thua sấp mặt đến 3 bàn không gỡ. Thậm chí tỷ số còn đậm hơn nếu Sheffield không bỏ lỡ vài cơ hội cực kỳ thuận lợi.

Hôm giữa tuần, Chelsea đã giành chiến thắng 3-2 trước đội bóng cùng thành phố Crystal Palace. Đó là thắng lợi đầy may mắn bởi trong khoảng 10 phút cuối đội quân của HLV Frank Lampard phải chơi dưới sức ép cực lớn từ đội chủ nhà. Nếu không có vận may hỗ trợ thì cú đánh đầu của một cầu thủ đối phương ở phút bù giờ đã làm tung lưới Kepa, thay vì trúng cột dọc.

Không phủ nhận The Blues vẫn chơi tốt kể từ sau Covid-19: thắng 5/6 trận gần nhất trên mọi đấu trường. Trong đó, hàng công Chelsea gồm bộ ba Olivier Giroud, Willian và đặc biệt Christian Pulisic chơi bùng nổ. Nhờ vậy, The Blues đã vượt mặt Leicester để vươn lên vị trí thứ 3 trên BXH.

Tuy nhiên, như thế không có nghĩa “cỗ máy” của Lampard đang vận hành hoàn hảo mà hàng thủ chính là cơn đau đầu lớn nhất. Phong độ của Kepa mùa này không cao khi anh là thủ môn có tỷ lệ cứu thua thấp nhất giải đấu.

Ngoài ra, cho đến tận bây giờ, HLV Lampard vẫn chưa thể tìm ra được bộ đôi trung vệ ăn ý nhất và phải liên tục xoay tua giữa Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen và Fikayo Tomori. Trong bóng đá, trung vệ luôn là vị trí đòi hỏi cầu thủ cần thi đấu thường xuyên để có sự ăn ý.

Đây là một phần nguyên nhân khiến The Blues đã thủng lưới tới 46 lần, cao nhất trong Top 9. Bên cạnh đó, Chelsea còn kém ổn định. Họ có thể chơi rất hay, nhưng lại bất ngờ thua lãng xẹt. Chẳng hạn sau 2 chiến thắng trước Man City và Leicester, The Blues đã nhận thất bại 2-3 trước đội bóng đang đua trụ hạng là West Ham.

So với trận thắng Palace thì ở chuyến làm khách của Sheffield, The Blues có hai sự thay đổi trong danh sách xuất phát. Cụ thể, tiền vệ Kante vắng mặt do chấn thương và Jorginho thay thế. Trong khi đó, Abraham lấy suất đá cao nhất trên hàng công của Giroud.

Abraham đã lập công, giúp Chelsea hạ gục Palace và từ đầu mùa đến giờ, tiền đạo sinh năm 1997 đã ghi tổng cộng 16 bàn trên mọi đấu trường, cao nhất đội. Abraham từng là lựa chọn số 1 cho vị trí trung phong cắm ở Chelsea song chấn thương liên tiếp đã ảnh hưởng đến sự thăng tiến của anh để rồi bây giờ Abraham không còn được Lampard "ưu ái".

Chủ nhà Sheffield nhập cuộc đầy hứng khởi và có phần lấn lướt các vị khách hùng mạnh. Tuy nhiên cơ hội nguy hiểm đầu tiên lại thuộc về đội khách. Phút thứ 8, Pulisic lao vào đánh đầu sạt xà ngang sau quả tạt bên cánh phải do Reece James thực hiện.

Sau tình huống đó, The Blues bắt đầu kiểm soát được thế trận nhưng Sheffield đã tổ chức hàng phòng ngự đầy khoa học để bảo vệ tối đa cho cầu môn. Chẳng những vậy, đội chủ nhà còn bất ngờ vươn lên dẫn bàn ở phút 18.

Trong một pha tấn công tương đối rối rắm và phức tạp, bóng được đưa vào giữa khu vực 16m50 từ chếch bên cánh phải và McBurnie bắt volley căng. Thủ môn Kepa không thể bắt dính và McGoldrick lạnh lùng sút bồi tung lưới Chelsea.

Dù bị dẫn bàn nhưng Chelsea chưa vội đẩy cao đội hình lên tấn công hòng gỡ hòa. Họ vẫn thi đấu khá điềm đạm và từ tốn như thể mọi thứ vẫn đang hoàn toàn bình thường. Tuy nhiên đến phút 33 thì có lẽ thầy trò nhà Lampard không thể "bình tĩnh" được nữa.

Từ quả tạt bên cánh trái do Stevens thực hiện, McBurnie thoải mái bật cao thực hiện cú lắc đầu hiểm hóc để nhân đôi cách biệt cho đội chủ nhà trong sự bất lực của Kepa (đứng im một chỗ nhìn trái bóng bay vào lưới). Một lần nữa điểm yếu nơi hàng thủ Chelsea được phơi bày rõ ràng.
McBurnie phấn khích sau khi đưa Sheffield vươn lên dẫn 2-0

Phải đến phút 44, đội khách mới tạo ra cơ hội nguy hiểm đầu tiên trong trận đấu khi Reece James bất ngờ tung ra cú sút căng ở cự ly gần 25m và dù hơi bị giật mình thì Dean Henderson vẫn có thể đẩy bóng cứu nguy cho Sheffield. Ai cũng biết Henderson chỉ khoác áo Sheffield theo diện cho mượn từ MU.

Sau giờ nghỉ giải lao, cục diện chẳng có nhiều biến chuyển khi mà Chelsea tấn công rất nhạt và vật vả xoay sở trong thế bế tắc còn Sheffield rất chủ động trong thế trận phòng ngự kiên cố của mình. Thời lượng kiểm soát bóng của đội khách chưa bao giờ dưới 70% nhưng cầm bóng nhiều mà chẳng làm được gì thì rõ là chuyện khó chấp nhận.

Bóng gần như chỉ lăn bên phần sân của chủ nhà Sheffield, song hiếm khi xuất hiện trong vùng cấm địa Sheffield. Nói cách khác là Chelsea gần như không có mấy cơ hội ăn bàn. Phút 66, HLV Lampard tung Giroud vào sân để cải thiện hàng công.

Ngay khi có mặt trên sân, tiền đạo người Pháp đã để lại dấu ấn với pha volley chân trái đưa bóng đi chệch cầu môn trong gang tấc từ đường chuyền dài của Rudiger. Đây là pha xử lý sở trường của cựu cầu thủ Arsenal.

Phút 75, Tammy Abraham mà tiếp bóng tốt hơn sau quả đá phạt góc của Barkley thì có lẽ Chelsea đã tìm được bàn thắng bởi cự ly là rất gần. Khi mà tình hình có vẻ khởi sắc với The Blues thì họ phải nhận thêm bàn thua.

Phút 77, chủ nhà Sheffield tổ chức phản công chớp nhoáng và McGoldrick chuyền xuống cho Mousset xâm nhâp khu vực 16m50 của Chelsea rồi căng ngang vào trong. Trung vệ Rudiger cản phá không tốt, giúp McGoldrick lần thứ 2 làm tung lưới Kepa.

Trong những phút còn lại, nỗ lực tìm bàn danh dự của Chelsea vẫn hoàn toàn bất thành. Không phủ nhận Sheffield đã phòng ngự quá hay nhưng cũng chẳng thể chối cãi rằng hàng công The Blues đã thi đấu dưới trung bình ở trận này. Trận đấu khép lại với chiến thắng 3-0 thuộc về chủ nhà Sheffied United.

Với 3 điểm mỹ mãn giành được trước ông lớn Chelsea, tân binh của Premier League 2019/20 đã tạm vươn lên vị trí thứ 6. Trong khi Chelsea tuy hiện tại vẫn nằm trong Top 4 song nếu Leicester có điểm trước Bournemouth và MU đánh bại Southampton ở những trận đấu sau đó của vòng 35 thì họ sẽ chắc chắn rơi khỏi nhóm được dự Champions League.
