Thế nhưng những nhược điểm của Real cần phải khắc phục đã rõ rành rành ra đấy, nếu không sửa đổi, Los Blancos sẽ phơi áo trước Man City. Thực ra đây không phải vấn đề mới của Real Madrid: từ năm ngoái họ đã để thua rất nhiều từ những tình huống đá phạt của đối phương, tuy nhiên chức vô địch La Liga với số điểm kỉ lục đã làm cho người Madrid mờ mắt, không tập trung cải thiện điểm yếu chết người này. Để rồi đến bây giờ, coi như đã buông súng trong cuộc đua song mã với Barcelona, Los Blancos mới tự nhìn lại mình và yếu huyệt bóng bổng mà đội bóng nào cũng có thể khai thác.

Mourinho tiết lộ với báo giới rằng ông đã có những cuộc trò chuyện nghiêm túc với các học trò của mình trong phòng thay đồ để phân công nhiệm vụ cụ thể của mỗi người khi chống bóng chết. Ông cũng kêu gọi tinh thần chiến đấu hết mình và quyết tâm không để lọt lưới trong những tình huống cố định nơi các cầu thủ của mình. Thế nhưng Di Maria, cầu thủ mà Mourinho đặt kì vọng rất lớn, vẫn mắc sai lầm cá nhân cực kì đáng trách trong bàn thua của Real Madrid trước Sevilla mới đây. Nên nhớ Man City vừa có một phát hiện mới mang tên Javi Garcia với những cú dứt điểm xuất phát từ bóng chết thuộc loại "miễn chê" (1 bàn thắng và 1 lần đưa bóng trúng cột dọc Stoke City trong vòng đấu gần nhất tại Premier League). Không khắc phục được thì Real chỉ có nước bại trận, và lí do lại là vì những tình huống cố định, thật quen thuộc.

2. Làm thế nào nếu Xabi Alonso bị khóa?


Trong 2 tiền vệ trung tâm thường trực ở Bernabeu, Alonso là người đóng vai trò sáng tạo, điều tiết lối chơi và mở ra cơ hội. Sevilla khóa cứng cựu cầu thủ của Liverpool và Real đã thua. Trong những cái tên còn lại ở trung tâm hàng tiền vệ Los Blancos, không còn ai có khả năng tạo nhịp trận đấu như Xabi Alonso: Sami Khedira và Michael Essien chơi ít sáng tạo hơn cầu thủ người Tây Ban Nha, Lassana Diarra cũng là mẫu cầu thủ chơi thiên về sức mạnh; trong khi đó, Luka Modric lại đang trong quá trình hòa nhập với đội bóng mới. Giờ thì Real mới thấy nhớ Nuri Sahin!

Khi Xabi Alonso bị vô hiệu hóa, các đợt tấn công của Real Madrid trở nên hiền lành một cách kì lạ, không còn mang tính sát thương cao như trước. Không tấn công được, Real khó có thể kiếm được bàn thắng. Một giải pháp cho HLV người Bồ Đào Nha: xếp Alonso đá cặp với Luka Modric. Tiền vệ người Croatia sẽ đảm nhận nhiệm vụ hàng ngày của Alonso: điều tiết nhịp độ trận đấu và tạo nên đột biến, còn số 14 sẽ thiên về phòng ngự nhiều hơn. Thế nhưng rủi ro cũng có thể xảy ra, với lối chơi có nét tương tự nhau, coi chừng Modric và Alonso "dẫm chân" nhau.

3. Khả năng tấn công yếu kém của Alvaro Arbeloa


Rõ ràng khi Sevilla khóa chặt Alonso, Arbeloa đã có nhiều khoảng trống hơn để triển khai bóng ở phía cánh phải cho các cầu thủ Real Madrid có thêm cơ hội, thế nhưng hiệu quả anh mang lại là rất thấp. Gặp phải hàng phòng ngự vững chắc của Sevilla, Arbeloa hoàn toàn "mất điện". Không những thế, tối nay án ngữ cánh trái của Man City sẽ là Clichy hay Kolarov. Bất kể là ai, Arbeloa nhiều khả năng sẽ lại... mờ tịt.

Arbeloa cứng và chơi rất kỉ luật trong phòng ngự, nhưng khả năng gây đột biến trong tấn công gần như là không có. Về mặt này, Marcelo ở bên cánh đối diện mạnh hơn hẳn. Nếu không tấn công được, Arbeloa thậm chí sẽ còn để lại một lỗ hổng ở vị trí của mình, nơi mà David Silva đã sẵn sàng khai thác. Dùng hay không dùng hậu vệ người Tây Ban Nha này vẫn đang là bài toán tiến thoái lưỡng nan cho Jose Mourinho.

4. Sức mạnh phản công cùn đi trông thấy

Mùa này Man City cực yếu trong việc chống phản công, trong khi đây lại là điểm mạnh của đội bóng chủ sân Bernabeu. Mùa trước, khi lên ngôi tại La Liga, trình độ phản công của Real Madrid là tuyệt đỉnh. Nếu Man City gặp Real vào năm ngoái, sẽ chẳng có chút nghi ngờ nào về việc Real sẽ chiếm thế thượng phong nhờ những đường phản công sắc bén của mình. Nhưng đến năm nay, vấn đề bắt đầu nảy sinh với sở trường này của đội bóng đến từ Tây Ban Nha: trong những pha bóng cố định của đối phương, Real quá tập trung vào phòng ngự tránh bàn thua, vì vậy họ thường xếp một hàng phòng ngự lùi sâu về phía phần sân nhà, chỉ có Ronaldo và một tiền đạo (có thể là Benzema hoặc Higuain) án ngữ ở trên để nhận chuyền. Như vậy là quá ít. Nếu có thêm Oezil hoặc Kaka, mọi chuyện sẽ hoàn toàn khác, thế nhưng nếu 2 cái tên này dâng lên tuyến trên, thì tuyến dưới lại bị mỏng và như đã nói, chống bóng chết là điểm yếu của Real. Thủ không được, công cũng chẳng xong, đây là một vấn đề là Mourinho phải đau đầu suy nghĩ.

5. Hàng tiền đạo khô hạn bàn thắng

Thật mỉa mai nếu cho rằng đội bóng đã nã vào lưới đối phương 121 bàn thắng chỉ trong 38 trận mùa giải năm ngoái lại đang gặp khó khăn trong việc ghi bàn. Nhưng đó lại là sự thật vào lúc này. Hàng công không biết nổ súng đang gây ra vô số hậu quả cho Los Blancos. Qua 4 trận đấu, đội quân của Jose Mourinho mới ghi được 5 bàn thắng, quá ít cho một đội có tham vọng vô địch. Bằng thời điểm này mùa trước, họ đã ghi được gấp đôi số bàn thắng như bây giờ. Ronaldo "buồn" và không còn hiệu quả. Higuain vẫn nổ súng đều đặn nhưng chẳng lẽ cả đội chỉ có 1 cầu thủ biết ghi bàn? Các bàn thắng cần đến từ những nguồn khác nữa: Benzema vẫn đang tịt ngòi, hàng tiền vệ của Real, ngoại trừ Ronaldo ra thì đều là những chuyên gia... kiến tạo.

Nếu giải quyết được cả 5 vấn đề đó: Arbeloa bỗng dưng bùng nổ ở cánh phải, Benzema bắt đầu nổ súng, Ronaldo hết buồn, những đợt phản công trở nên sắc sảo như cũ và hàng thủ đứng vững trước các đợt bóng chết, đồng thời Xabi Alonso có đủ không gian để vùng vẫy, Real sẽ thắng. Nhưng đó chỉ là "nếu". Còn trong trường hợp Los Blancos đá như trận gặp Sevilla, họ sẽ không có cửa trước Man City, dù có được chơi tại Bernabeu đi chăng nữa.
